Top Activity Bars in London

Competitive socialising is on the rise… and I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for the next activity for a fun date night spot or evening with friends. Who doesn’t love mixing a bit of friendly competition with some cocktails? If you want to keep the vibes flowing, the energy high, and shake up the standard night out, these activity bars are the way to go.

Here are some of my favourite spots in the city for drinks, light-hearted games, and great atmospheres.

Fairgame City

The city’s most iconic spot to sip, play, and channel your inner child, Fairgame City has just levelled up with a shiny location in St Paul’s.

You’ll be welcomed by a giant 15ft rotating duck the second you walk in, and if that doesn’t already prepare you for what’s inside, then I don’t know what will! This vibrant playground is filled with an infectious energy as soon as you walk in, with loud music, bright lights, and about a hundred pink teddy bears hanging from the ceiling.

Fairgame City has 12 games to get involved in, re-inventing the classic fairground challenges with a fun twist; featuring the world’s largest indoor hook-a-duck (this was by FAR my favourite one).

The fun doesn’t stop at the games and the fairground-themed cocktails are just as incredible, with Prosecco-infused candy floss and a Helter Skelter.

Flight Club

With multiple locations across Victoria, Shoreditch, Bloomsbury and Islington, this is an incredibly stylish venue with private interactive darts booths. With state-of-the-art tech and multiple game modes to get involved in, Flight Club takes darts to a whole other level - it’s a great spot for a ground of friends to sit back with a drink and catch up.

If I’m being completely honest, I’m terrible at darts, but that doesn’t take away the fun at all!

With chilled vibes, a cool setting and that added level of friendly competition, Flight Club hits the bullseye! They also have a vibrant outside area where you can sit back, share a pizza and celebrate your win.

Boom Battle Bar

Designed for battling it out with your friends, Boom Battle Bar offers a range of activities to get involved in. From private karaoke booths to interactive darts, augmented reality axe throwing and shuffleboard, there’s so much to choose from!

They also offer throwback-themed bottomless brunches, which is the best way to get the night rolling. Of course, if you’re axe throwing you can’t be downing 12 cocktails beforehand so do take that into account!

Their bottomless brunches are insanity (in the best way possible!) We arrived in the afternoon and it already felt like a full-blown party. With disco balls, 2000s hits, glow sticks, colourful sunglasses, and several of my favourite classic cocktails to choose from, we knew from the onset we were in for a good night. Throw some karaoke into the mix and it was an absolute blast!

Bounce

If you get crazy competitive during table tennis, this one’s for you! I don’t know what it is about table tennis that makes me so competitive but I lock into the game straight away (this doesn’t mean I’m actually any good).

This is the perfect spot to grab a drink and chill after work, with venues in Old Street, Farringdon and Battersea. Post-game there’s some great food offerings on the menu, from bites and burgers to pizzas, and some classic cocktails to sweeten the spot.

This spot is probably better suited for groups for two to six, to keep everyone involved and keep the games rolling. Booking the games themselves are such good value, around just under £10 per person.

Roxy Ball Room

Roxy Ball Room offers everything you could need for a fun pre-drinks spot. With pretty much every bar-themed activity under the sun - beer pong, tech darts, karaoke, ping pong, bowling - even crazy pool.

Right in the heart of the city, this is an incredibly electric spot with neon lights, loud music and an overall exciting vibe. Make sure to book up your activities in advance, as this one can get crazy busy!

If you only do one thing here, make it Crazy Pool! It’s pool meets crazy golf, I had never tried this before and it was such a fun twist on the classic game. 100% recommend if you’re looking for something new, quirky and fun.

NQ64

Retro meets neon nightlife at NQ64! If you’re a gamer, then this is a perfect spot to get the pre-drinks flowing.

This underground bar is decorated floor to ceiling in neon lights, full of classic arcade machines and retro game consoles. Games include Mario Kart (always everyone’s favourite), Dance Dance Revolution (this one WILL work up a sweat), Guitar Hero & PAC-MAN. You can pay upfront for a certain number of tokens, and then pick and choose between the games.

I’m a sucker for a fun twist on a cocktail menu, and each cocktail here is based off a classic video game character, including Peach on the Beach, Toadette’s Tipple and Kong Island Iced Tea. Definitely worth giving these a try!

Lane7

One of London’s coolest boozy bowling spots, Lane7 turns the classic games you’ve played many times before into full-on party vibes, with disco balls, pumping music an all round vibrant scene.

They don’t just do bowling, and offer a range of bar-themed activities from beer pong to a secret 18+ underground arcade, Play Dirty. I have NEVER seen an arcade like this before and it was so much fun. I’m honestly not sure how to describe this one, aside from classic arcade games re-invented with a playful adult twist - you would need to try this one out to see for yourself!

Platform

Another one for the gamers, or anyone who is as obsessed with Mario Kart as I am. This bar in the heart of London offers private gaming booths for your group, where you can sit back with a cocktail and have the gaming world right at your fingertips.

Dive into 90 minutes of gameplay across a range of consoles, from the Wii to the PS5 and Nintendo Switch. It’s the perfect spot to get your friends together play all your favourite games in the same room. I reckon we played a good half hour of Mario Kart when I went.

They also offer a range of gamer-themed cocktails that really enhance the experience (I’m always tempted by a drink with a different name). My favourite was the Rainbow Road - incredibly delicious and topped with a rainbow sweet. Definitely one to try!

Crazy Boules

This is quite a unique activity that I hadn’t tried until recently…a playful twist on the classic game of boules combined with crazy gold, this is such a different and entertaining experience to try.

As you enter, you make your way around a fun obstacle course, with each level bringing a different theme. You go head-to-head with your friends, taking it in turns to throw metal balls (boules) as you try to land as close to the target as possible with the fewest points. I was surprisingly good for someone who had never played it before - tapping into beginner’s luck! It’s silly, fun, and ends up quite competitive!

Post game, enjoy a cocktail and some food in their vibey outdoor terrace at Mercato Metropolitano.
